If you had to guess the first electrically lighted city in the world, would you guess Wabash, IN? Me neither but then we'd both be wrong. On March 31, 1880, four street lights lit up the courthouse square to everyone's amazement. Unfortunately, I think Wabash has been on a steady decline since then. This was most evident when I could barely see the billboard bragging that they were the first electrically lighted city because the lights were out.
